Sow A Seed Of Faith
Sometimes prayers aren't answered due to a lack of faith. We simply don't believe that God will answer our prayers!
Matthew 17:20 (NLT) “You don’t have enough faith,” Jesus told them. “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible."
We must have faith that our prayers will be answered, and then we must act! Faith is not a thought or a feeling; faith is an act, and it requires action.
In the book of Matthew, Peter could easily have stayed in the boat and said he had faith, but just saying it wouldn't have meant he actually believed it. He had to step out of the boat! Jesus challenged him to "come", he wanted Peter to believe that his faith could make it happen.
Matthew 14:28-29 (King James Version)
And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.
And He said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.
Let's face it... Stepping out of the boat onto the water took real faith! And it was that faith that allowed Peter to walk on the water!
Prayer is just the beginning. But you can't just sit in your living room or kneel beside your bed and pray, and expect God to do the rest. You must have faith, and you must act on faith. Like Peter, you have to step out of the boat! This shows God your faith. And your faith is what makes God move!
One way of showing your faith is to sow a seed. Pray over your seed and then plant it. Tell God you are sowing this seed in faith. FAITH that you believe in him and FAITH that he will answer your prayers. And give a little more than you are comfortable giving. Remember, Peter left the safety of the boat and stepped way out of his comfort zone by taking that leap of faith and stepping out onto the water. Plant a seed and watch it grow!
